After all the drama and unresolved tension from our last update, we want to pass along some good news - we have set up our new fulfillment situation for the remaining third of the Curse Words packages, which will allow us to be extremely hands-on with the process in a way the former solution did not. The pallets with the remaining materials - almost two tons worth! - will be arriving at the new fulfillment station at the end of the first week of March, and we will begin coordinating the re-pack and shipping process immediately thereafter. Ryan and I will be directly on top of it - no more third parties getting between you and your heavy, beautiful books.
A quick caveat: we aren't sure what we'll find when we open the boxes. We hope it'll all be well-organized and easy to turn around quickly, but there could be a bit of a logistical operation to address. Either way, we'll get on it as quickly as we can, and make sure you guys get your books and associated materials ASAP. Again, at this point, zero international packages have gone out, but we will update you as soon as they begin shipping (alongside the remaining domestic packages.) Nothing from that set has gone out in the last two weeks, so don't worry if you don't have tracking right now - none of that will ship until, at the earliest, the second week of March. But we're trying!
Ryan and I have already been working to make sure people who had damaged books or missing things like Curse Cards or Battle Sketches have gotten replacements - that's ongoing, but we can do that without having the pallets in-hand, and wanted to do what we could in the meantime. We've ordered a LOT of shipping materials, too - enough bubble wrap to bubble wrap a battleship!
So... it's happening! We remain apologetic and frustrated by these delays, and can't believe it will be MARCH before some of you get your items... but we do feel much better now that it's under our direct control. Time for your next exciting update on where things are with shipping for the CURSE WORDS - THE HOLE DAMNED THING omnibus! STRAP IN, PALS!
At this point, about 2/3 of the packages have been shipped by the fulfillment company we hired to assist us with that part of the process. That includes nearly all of the domestic packages, and none, unfortunately, of the international packages. Some of the packages that were shipped had errors in their contents, or suffered mild damage in the shipping process (which is not unusual - an errors/damages rate of 1-5% is typical with a complex Kickstarter, especially with a heavy book, or so we are told.) Ryan and I did a lot of organizational work early on and during the process to minimize those problems, but it's just a ton of moving pieces. Some slippage is inevitable.
We have addressed many of the errored packages, and are working to deal with the rest. We're seeing the messages many of you are posting on social media with your true, deep joy at receiving this beautiful beast of a book, and they thrill us down to our very soul. (And in Charles' case, his very Soule.) We know that a great number of the books have gone out properly and well, but we also know that some of them have not, and it's been an ongoing, frustrating, daily battle with the fulfillment company we hired to get it done.
It became clear this week that the company would not commit to getting the rest of the packages shipped in a timely fashion, and so we have parted ways with them and will be completing the remaining fulfillment through another partner. We find this to be VERY ANNOYING - we're just a couple of nice fellas who hired a company to mail out a bunch of stuff that had a reputation for being able to mail out a bunch of stuff. (Much like, in fact, how y'all are lovely people who just ordered a dang comic book a while back and didn't expect all this dramarama!) We didn't think it would become an ordeal along these lines. But when the "fulfillers" started getting vague about when they would actually, y'know, "fulfill," it just became clear we had to get it finished on our own.
It sucks! Boy howdy!
We are currently working to set up the new logistics, and get the remaining packages moved to the new fulfillment operation. It will take us a short amount of time, but we'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, if you receive a shipment in the near term with an error or damage, message Ryan through the Kickstarter and we'll get it sorted out. We have a list of all the problems noted so far, and will be addressing them all.
