I, Charles Soule, (one half of Team Curse Words) just launched a brand new Kickstarter for my upcoming novels THE ENDLESS VESSEL and CHRONICLES OF THE LAZARENE. Yes, I write fancy-pants novels in addition to writing fancy-pants comic books. Click the link below to head straight over!

These books are linked stories, each building on the other. THE ENDLESS VESSEL is the biggie, and we've got a gorgeous special edition cover as part of the project. CHRONICLES is a companion piece to it, but stands on its own as well. They're both awesome adventures, speculative fiction with genre elements, basically big, world- and history-spanning tales that will click with fans of Cloud Atlas or The Midnight Library.

As you'll see, there are lots of other great rewards too - an amazing map, audio and digital versions, fun in-world artifacts. It's great!

Hey, friend - Charles Soule here!

If you're getting this, you were a backer for CURSE WORDS - THE HOLE DAMNED THING, the huge omnibus collection of the Image Comics series CURSE WORDS from Ryan Browne and myself. Again and always, thank you so much for that! We remain amazed and overjoyed at the support.

But if you thought we were done making comics together, you are WRONG! I am beyond thrilled to tell you about the next comic book project from Ryan and me. We've been working on it for at least a few years now, and I couldn't be happier about how it's coming together. Beyond just being a staggering artistic talent, Ryan is one of my closest friends in all this lonely world, and getting to work with him is always a joy.

 With no further ado, Silent E Productions LLC presents to you, the very latest BrownSoul Joint... 

EIGHT BILLION GENIES!!!

What is this book? Very simple: at exactly the same moment, everyone on Earth gets a genie, and one wish. What happens next? How would that be anything other than total chaos? Why would Ryan and Charles write a story about something so audacious and boundary-breaking?

Because we can, friends. Because we can. COMICS, BABY!

The series will begin in May 2022 from Image Comics, but Ryan and I have created a limited edition version of the first issue we're going to have available at C2E2 in Chicago this weekend. HOWEVER, since you guys are awesome, we're going to give you a crack at it too. It's limited to 500 signed, sketched and numbered copies, and will be available for purchase at the same time as it is at the show - at 11 AM EST this Friday, through Sunday at 6 PM EST. It includes, in addition to the full-color first issue, a special prose story I wrote that won't be in the standard #1 issue published in May! Amazing!

This is the purchase link - again, it'll go live on Friday morning, and when they're gone, they're gone - we'll also be selling them at the show, so move quickly if you want one.

SO! That's EIGHT BILLION GENIES, of which much more will be said in weeks and months to come. But in the meantime, I'd also like to provide a little update on the last big oustanding item from the CURSE WORDS Kickstarter - the long-in-progress Curse Words Concept Album!

I've been working on this thing non-stop since the Kickstarter. It's a full-length, ten track record that I am composing, producing and playing all instruments on except live drums. I've done this before, but not for a while, and it's been a challenge alongside things like writing novels and comics and trying hard to stay alive. I promise I am hard at work, and it's VERY COOL, basically a rock opera. I showed my assistant Tommy a couple of the songs - his response:  "Charles, why are you making this this good?" My response was, of course "FOR THE FANS YOU PHILISTINE" but I also took that glowing review to suggest that the time I've been taking on this means it's what I want it to be, which is more than just a funny gimmick. I think it'll be very much worth the wait!

That said, if you are one of the folks who ordered the vinyl LP version of the album as an add-on and you're sick of waiting, reach out to Tommy at [email protected] and he'll get you sorted out. IT’S ALL OUT THERE!

Well, it’s been quite a ride, but Ryan and I are beyond thrilled to finally be able to announce that all packages have been shipped for the CURSE WORDS - THE HOLE DAMNED THING OMNIBUS Kickstarter.

Now, that does not necessarily mean all packages have been *received* yet. Some had to travel quite a distance, through the air and over oceans and so on. That said,we think  everyone should have everything within the next few weeks. If you don’t have your stuff, and would like an update, please message Ryan and he can look up your order status.

This took so much longer than we expected, and we appreciate you sticking with us the whole way. What started as a fun project to work on last summer has consumed a ton of our time over most of a year - but we’re still thrilled we did it, and so happy you guys came out for the Kickstarter so strongly. CURSE WORDS 4-EVAH!

We need to thank Tommy Stella, my noble, overworked assistant, who stepped up in a big way to get hundreds of packages out the door after our original fulfillment solution didn’t work out. He deserves your admiration and praise - as does *his* assistant, his noble, overworked cat Taz, who did a heck of a job supervising everything Tommy did and keeping errors to a minimum.

Speaking of Kickstarters, my Curse Words co-creator and hyper-colleague Ryan Browne just cannot get enough of them! He is launching a campaign for a massive omnibus of his incredible surreal superhero comic GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS - and it begins Monday!!! He has sworn to keep direct control of all fulfillment, too, so we can be pretty confident the shipping issues we had here won’t carry over. Please back it - you won’t regret it. Ryan’s shown me what he has planned, and it is GROOVY BUSINESS.

Last little thing - I realize there’s a big, honking element of this campaign some of you are still waiting on - the CURSE WORDS CONCEPT ALBUM! I can say that I am still working on it. Getting recording time with the musicians I need has been a bit of a challenge due to COVID, but most of the material’s written, and I’m just going to keep plugging away at it. Once I have versions of at least several of the tunes mastered and solid, I’ll start releasing teases. I think it’s a lot of fun. ”Jacques Zacques Rock” is done, as are ”Mr. Magic Man” and ”The Nine.” ”The Ballad of Ruby Stitch” and ”Team Margaret” are in-progress, and the others I’m not ready to drop titles for just yet - but they’re all cool.

Thank you again - this will be the last update for the time being, I think - but stay tuned for that GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS Kickstarter, as well as the next big Image comic from Ryan and me. The first issue’s done, and we’ll be announcing it soon!
